    [Misc] Canon IR3570 Offline/Online

    Hi,

I have this machine connected to network.
Six computers are connected to the machine.
The machine goes offline and online erratically.
As soon the machine goes offline, goes offline in all six computers.
Computers have Win 7 all of them.

Sometimes I reboot the copier and a couple of minutes later it comes online.

We ping the copier and it respond to the network but no printing from computers.
Icon in Device and Printers is gray shaded.

    Any suggestions!!

    Thanks in advance.

      Re: Canon IR3570 Offline/Online

How do I keep the imageRUNNER's scanner function (for Network ScanGear or Color Network ScanGear) in the 'Online' state even after a shutdown, reboot, or sleep?

      Answer :
      * Note: If you do not have a Scan tab on the copier, this will not work.

      1. Hit Additional Functions.
      2. Select System Settings.
      3. Press the 'Auto Online / Offline' option.
      4. Select 'Auto Online' and turn it 'On'.
      - You can print without setting the scanner function Offline.
      - You will not be able to push scan to a destination via Universal Send or make copies with the scanner function Online. You will need to turn the scanner function Offline before doing so.

Auto Offline Feature allows a user to have the Scanner within the imageRUNNER automatically go offline after a certain amount of time.
This functionality is helpful because other feaures of the copier may not be enabled while the scanner is online.
      To enable Auto Offline:

      1) Select Additional Functions.
      2) Select System Settings.
      3) Select Auto Offline and set this to On.

To set the time that the machine will automatically go offline (Auto Clear Time):

      1) Hit Additional Functions.
      2) Select Timer Settings.
      3) Choose Change Auto Clear Time.
      4) Enter the desired time in minutes and select OK. The time ranges from 0 - 9 minutes in one minute increments (0 = off).

          I just did it.
          No results

After a Copier Re-boot it comes online for all computers.
couple of minutes later, it goes offline.

Plug a laptop in directly with a cross over cable, if it stays online you know it's a network issue

              Re: Canon IR3570 Offline/Online

Turn off SNMP in the port settings on the print server_?

Windows 7 enables SNMP support for networked printers. The problem is that some printers don’t respond to SNMP queries. This is especially true of older printers.

Since the printer doesn’t implement SNMP, and therfore doesn’t respond to the SNMP queries, the computer assumes its is offline.

Fortunately, there is a simple fix for this. Its just a matter of configuring the port the PC uses to communicate to the network printer to not use SNMP for communication.

Here is how to set the network printer to be online. First thing, you must be logged in as an Administrator. Click on the Start button, then on Devices and Printers. Then Right Click on the printer that is offline and select Printer Properties. Then click on the Ports tab,

Click on the Configure Port button.
