    [Misc] Drum unit (drum house)

    Hello,
I am a junior technician and currently checking iR3045 machine. This machine produces black color over the pages (all pages covered by black color, it seems that the toner is flooding). I think the drum unit (drum house) is broken or "shorting". I have checked all parts and found nothing wrong. What actually caused the "shorting" of the drum house? It seems to be OK when the drum house is changed with the new one.

    Best,
    Khadis

    Spring contacts or charge roller.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it

      post a copy here !!
are they solid black copies/& internal test prints from edge to edge without any blanking.
Check the physical connections of the primary contacts. The primary drum contact is located on the drum and makes contact with an HVT metal contact on the machine's rear. The drum's primary contact tab can be easily bent or deformed during drum replacement or removal. If it becomes bent it can cause solid black copies creating a voltage leak. (Reform if needed)

Check the leaf spring position on the front side of the machine that makes contact with the steel registration roller.
If the spring is bent backwards far enough /it could be making contact with the transfer roller causing black copies.
Please see the photo below.( if so> reform back to steel registration roller )

Hi, thank you for the reply.
Yes, the results were solid black copy from edge to edge in one paper side/face. But strangely, it sometimes produce pure white/blank copy (no text, no lines) after 9-10 copies. Here are the conditions under drum house:

        10IMG_20150717_192519.jpg
        (seems on in upright position)

        (the toner is leaking everywhere)

As Khadis mantioned initially that it ok if the drum unit changed. that means the charge ( bias ) to the drum it self is missing. so I believe here that the contact to the main ( primary ) charge roller is the problem. makesure that all parts in the contact flow to the charge roller is in order.

Hi, thank you for the direction. I will inform them about this. My seniors are still trying to check all. We do hope that we can find the main problem soon. Then, if the contact to the primary is the problem, is there any need to change spare-part(s)?

                Thanks in advance,
                Khadis

                  Hi,
We got the drum unit from local Canon service center located for about 200 km away from our town.

Thank you for the advice. We currently only have OPC drums and most of them only last for 100 copies. For the primary charge, we have tried to change it for twice. We'll keep trying on it.
