Epson 11880 Printing Problem, Black ink droplets

Hi,

i have an Epson 11880 Printer.
Printing black ink only (the color inks are installed normaly).
there are large drops of ink on the sheet. see pictures attached.

i opened the printer to check any if any cables are loose.
i cleaned the resting station.
there was a black ink installed that had an expiration date from 2018.
we now inserted one that is not expired.

could it be the ink? we printed large areas of black but it doesn't seem to get better.
is the print-head maybe faulty?

Fresh and original ink matters a lot, was the head cleaning successful? What level of general cleaning and maintenance does the plotter have?
