Have a client with a C552 with a bad yellow unit. I have a good yellow IU, but has no chip on it to reset as we normally put in a brand new chip for the machine to recognize and calibrate appropriately. Any way to get the machine to use this chipless IU?

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but I believe th IU supplied with the machine do not have chips in them, replacement ones do. I think you have two choices take the harness out of an old IU (if you have one) and put it in the faulty one with the correct chip or update the machine to end of life firmware.

Here something that helped me. I got it from this website and I'll pass it along.
Run to fail setting
switch 51 set HEX to F0 fix
switch 55 set HEX to 0C fix
Exit CE mode & go back in, check these HEX settings are still saved (not 00)
If they are not saved you need to update the fw then try again.
For the IU stop setting:
1. Press the Utility/Counter key.
2. Touch [Meter Count] on the touchscreen.
3. Touch [Check Details] on the touchscreen.
4. Press Stop, 0, 0, Stop, 0, 1.
5. Press Stop, 0, C.
6. Touch [IU Life Stop Setting] on the touchscreen.
7. Touch [No Stop] on the touchscreen.
8. Touch [END] on the touchscreen.
9. Touch [Exit] on the touchscreen.
This will set all consumables to run til fail. You can see the counters, just no message for the customer. Check the oil can on the bottom of the screen
and keep a good svc log so you know how long the drums have been in the machine.
