    BH654 versus BH654e

has anyone ever dared to attempt the conversion?

according to the parts manual the printer control board is the same between the 2.

Would be interesting to see what happens if someone "accidentally" put a new bh654e mfp board into a bh654 next time one is needed

being the same part number they will work. just make sure its a clean board. if its used which your not supposed to do you might get by with the reset tool which will clean the board

What benifit would converting it to the e series give you?
Ive got a c754e and a c754 next to each other at a customer and spec wise they both print same speed, both have same accessories

more up to date firmware would be the main point, specs wise they are basically identical.

654 is quite an oddity being the only technically non e-series with an e-series control panel. Unique firmware, rarely updated these days.

specs are so similar with the 654e even down to the cpu in use on the mfp board makes me wonder what the point of it was.
