    I removed the top grey cover so I could see toner bottle rotating, also the electric stepping motor of toner hopper rotates the compilation of white gears and the agitating blade (as pictured above of troll0201 user) so to 'push' toner powder on hopper exit to the rest of developer 'body' for further distribution.

    I tested sensor position by forcing the interruption plastic (as pictured above of troll0201 user) on two different positions ('closed', 'open'), same problem.

    also I disconnected the sensor cable which is normal to get the toner error message. thus, i believe a hopper sensor or pcbs failure.

    also, hopper is always full of toner powder.

    disassembled of hopper, cleaning, check for broken internal parts - wires, all good.

    I tried another functional developer unit from other machine, still problem.

    I tested by removing (cleaning) off powder of the magnetic developer roller and after the replenishing procedure, that roller is becoming (covered) 'black' again which is normal, so proven normal powder distribution and developer agitating blades rotation all over inner body of developer.

    last test: I turn main switch on of the machine without installed drum, developer (also disconnected of front pcb), front door (not pressing the safety switch), side door opened (not pressing the safety switch) and instantly after some secs of initialization the toner replenishing error is coming up. is that correct?
    if not a correct initialization procedure then I really start to believe for a faulty alarm, hopper sensor failure, or bad front or rear pcbs....

      for me bizhub c284e add toner problem was due to the rear motor not hooking to the bottle. Bottle not turning. On close scrutiny the bottle design was different compared to other working bottle. avoid these cheap options! Lable ok but on wrong bottle!
