more di520 problems

Finally got di520 up and running, now we have a new problem:

When copying landscape, paper dog ears on leading edge when flipped for face down output. not in portrait. Its not hard to copy portrait but cant use lcc tray. Also haven't found face up output setting. Basically Seems to only dog ear when paper is flipped face down in landscape.

If someone could advise on this would be greatly appreciated!

Although I have usually seen this in portrait, who knows? Open the exit door on the left end at the fuser, and check the black gate with fins, that is used to choose paper direction. The fins toward the rear can get a hair line crack that will catch the paper. Also the door under that one has tan poly film guides that will get worn. If neither one of these is it, then you will have to keep stopping your machine while running and narrow down the area that the paper is getting folded. Another area to check is the entrance to the fuser. If toner builds up on the pate, it can also cause problems, check fuser exit also.

The black gate with fins is the the exit/turnover gate between the exit of the fuser and the exit of the copier body. Its the same that was used in EP6000/EP6001. It gets worn from heat stress near the rear and cracks. The corner of the paper will catch there...esp. on 8.5x11 short and 11x17.

so the link that i posted is the black gate that is mentioned. Running a piece of paper across you can feel some disturbances in the surface of those fins.

Yes that is the gate. Usually if it is cracked you will be able to see it when you move it. If it is rough, use fine sandpaper to smooth. If that is not it, look at those tan mylars on the entrance to the duplex. They can ruin your day.

already replaced tan fins on door. hopefully i don't have to replace fins on machine side. looks like a fun project it i have to do that
