    B458e usb port not working

    Hi All,

    I just received and installed a new MFP board and while performing board replacement at the firmware step machine just boots up. I have tried various firmware and even inserted the flash directly on the board and it does not get to the FW screen.

    Due to this I am stuck with error code (C-C164)

    Is there any ICP that could of popped or has anybody had this issue.

    The other MFP board is completely dead machine does not start up at all as if the power supply is damaged again here is there an ICP that I can look at?

    Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance

          Veeeery unlikely!!!

          First, after fitting new MFP board, have you connect front USB (extension cable) to correct port on MFP board?
          Second, maybe your USB flash drive don't fit in all the way.
          In that case you can remove extension USB cable from the board and put flash drive directy in that port on MFP board.

              Dude there is a sensor connected to the flap that covers the firmware port. If its not plunged in the machine will not even read from it.
              Found that i have created this scenario for myself before.

              There is ICP list for every model available.
              Then again ICP's are easy to spot.

                          8 series firmware is done on the front CP usb. the 4 series was on the MFPB behind a plate.
                          We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.
                          The medication helps though...

                              The difference-who knows? Maybe the author.
                              I can think of:
                              -firmware
                              -troubleshooting steps

                                      Are you sure you loaded B458 firmware onto USB and not the C458 by mistake.

                                          Hi,

                                          I did try the tar file and the machine still starts up instead of "INITIALIZION COMPLETE"
                                          I have tried the same firmware on the same flash drive on an other machine and it works perfectly.

                                          According to wiring diagram usb port ICP no is ic109, I tried to bridge it but still the issue persist.

                                          I guess I am going to have to order an order and return this one.

                                          If anybody has a resolution to repairing this board please share this info with me.

                                              are you holding down stop and closing the door within 3 seconds to initiate the FW process?
                                              dont forget to enter the machine and type if set to ff
                                              is the folder fw0000x the only thing on the root of the flash drive?
                                              tried a different usb?
                                              usb 4 gig or smaller? some 8g work but very picky.
                                              is the front usb plugged into "front USB" on the mfp board?
                                              please let me know if i missed any of these answers.

                                                  Yes all is in order as I had mentioned in the post earlier the firmware and flash were tested on an other machine and worked fine.

                                                  The only thing I haven't tried is the door as you mentioned.

                                                  But surely if the reset did not work it is pretty obvious that the port is dead.
