C253 toner

Hi guys.

Well since i am operating on my own i have discovered lots about what toner will work where.
In emergencies i have used TN217/414 on B951's, 754's and 958's.
Also used TN512 on the 754 machines with no issue.
I know the developer will not last long if there is not developer in the toner mix.
Only used those in weekend emergencies.


Also the newer RICOH and XEROX machines work on the TN512CMYK toners!
Found that out after a copy shop owner bought toner from me, ask him what machine he runs, showed me his RICOH an XEROX machines.
Told him its a risk he is taking, told me he has been doing it for years.

The C253 does not have a way to discard excess developer as far as i can see. So will not try developer containing toner.
I have plenty TN114 TN311 and TN217.

Anyone used this toner on a C253, C200, C353 before?

Even found a customer filling his 754 with Konica TN711 toner. No background prints perfect, but dev does not last.

You are brave man! I would only attempt using toners from one machine to another if in the same design family, i.e. biz C250 toner in a Biz C253.

Not sure why anyone would even need to do this with toners so cheap? When you can buy "genuine" C253 toner on internet for $25-$30 why would someone find it necessary to go through the mess of refilling, etc. If you think about it by the time you buy the generic toner & chip, plus your time to refill it you could of bought a genuine toner for maybe $5 or $10 more!

You posted about using TN711 in a 754, I thought TN711 was the correct toner for 754?

My bad TN710 not TN711.
Yea living in Africa makes you do these things.
Sometimes find batches of old toner that cost very little.
Been using TN311 on the 423 for some time now.

Ok makes sense, being in far away places I agree you have to improvise and do what you have to do.

Those are the material safety data sheets for TN217 and TN213.
Its on the box i know.

Was thinking that C250 toner would be best. But not made with the same stuff.

Unfortunately not emerging but a declining economy, but that has its advantages.
Its not as bad as that statement of mine made it sound. Can get correct toners but its pricey.

Figured out how to check the materials safety sheets and also what CAS numbers mean.
That helped a lot. These toners are mostly compatible.

Yes the TN217/414 worked just fine on the C253.

Now got a bunch of TN114 i want to use on the B223/423 machines, but in this case the ingredients are not as similiar.
TN114 contains magnetite 1317-61-9 and titanium compound 12060-59-2 instead of the amorphous silica 7631-86-9 and titanium dioxide 13463-67-7.
Now i remember using DV114 on other machines. So still thinking even with these toners being that dissimilar it could still work.

So do you think adding a spoon full of developer would make TN217 work right without depleting the developer over time?
If you take a TN512Y and look at the bottom of the tube you can get an idea of the amount of developer. Its most visible on yellow.
