    [Misc] C3110 Black Image Unit

Have a customer that we sent a black image unit for them to replace last week. No too bad, easy to do. Today I get a call saying that the black image unit needs to be replaced. I go to the customer and the black IU is at 0%. We are using OEM supplies. Come back to the shop and we don't have any new ones and so I took one out of a machine that we have sitting here. Go back to customer and put that IU in and it still says 0% and need to replace! I know that that IU was not all used up. So I found the setting in the service mode to extend the IU life and turned it to extend and as soon as I did that it started printing. So I guess did we get a bad IU and when we get more in should I put a new one in to see if it resets the counter. Have not seen anything about this on KM website.

    Thanks
    KEN

check the UI chip connector is not loose or damaged. The other problem could be eeprom.

Once the chip gets blown all it does is tell the machine that the IU is present. The machine does the counting not the chip.
