If you see it when leaving front door open just wait a bit long maybe 10-15 minutes.
Yes, I saw a black dot, top right on the screen. What does that mean?
If I leave the front door open, it just boots as normal and tells me to close the door. Nothing happens until I do, then it continues to boot to the GUI.
I never see the menu for updating the FW as shown in the SM.
I've tried the rear port, no difference. It's like it just ignores these drives.

if thats the case, i have had luck doing a system data total clear, FW then movie data again.
be sure to backup the data first to usb, at least you will verify if the flash drive is being properly recognized.
also there are some brand USB drives that just wont work on a konica.
We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.
      The medication helps though...

Ah...that sounds risky. I mean, the machine is working pretty much fine at the moment. I'd hate to brick it, just trying to do a software update!
It's possible that it just doesn't like these drives. They're different brands, but one is fairly old and the other is a generic one I got at a trade show.

What's the deal with updating over the network? Is that not a good option? There's no one else in the building today, so no issues with interference.
If so, how does that work? The SM isn't real clear.

No real way, just stick to USB method.
Some pictures may come useful. KM recomended some TRANSCEND 16GB flash drives, they are really working.

            Ok, thanks.
I may have to come back and try the upgrade at another time. I don't have any other flash drives with me, and I know I don't have any Transcend drives at home.
Thanks for the help guys. At least I got the drums replaced, that was something off my list.
