Never fails, you get those weird service requests late on Fridays. Now I'm left all weekend thinking what it could be...
Here is message I received, "was in middle of print job on the C558, heard a loud pop and now machine is dead"
I replied to remove from surge protector and plug directly into wall outlet after making sure wall outlet is live. They replied outlet good copier still dead. Heading out there Monday to have a look. My first thought was a capacitor popped on pwr supply but it would be a first I've seen that on 4 or 8 series? Any thoughts? Thanks

Did an LVPS on that exact same model a few months ago for a "no power" condition. I can't recall if I noticed any damage or burnt caps on inspection though.

Ha-ha, Had this same church bulletin story several times in the past 40 years.
