    bizhub 4050 paper tray empty

Today got call from customer saying no paper feed from tray.
Got with me spare pick up tires but on machine pick up looks ok (green ones) and machine feed and print 1 sheet than report empty tray.
After just open-close tray it will again print 1 sheet and report empty tray.
I dont have much time to lose with this today but tried to clean tires bottom sensors arround pick up rollers with caned air with no success.
Did somebody mess with this problem on this series?

Have been told that even if the rollers looks clean they have some kind of layer build up on them that makes them slip.
Try rubbing them with some WD-40 or something similar.
    Whatever

**** sounds like paper out tray sensor is broken/not seated properly.
Cleaning rollers? I prefer a rubber rejuvenator.
Canned air can blow toner into sensors/boards/gears causing problems.

Like Phil B said, check the paper sendor on the feed unit, that black flag looking thingy. Its either twisted or broken off.

Have seen where that actuator is partially pulled out. It will register at first and then say paper empty.

Yep this lo-o-ong black flag sensor actuator is faulty. Change is a pain. Make sure you have picture or two when you put machine upside down on springs and so on.
            Good luck

              Thanks all for advices.
I dont have much expirience with this type of machines and by the first quick look that paper feed section looks sucks with bunch of sensors, levers...and hard to access without removing half parts.
For now i just redirect customer to use mp feeder tray till i get some time to solve this problem.
One more problem is at customer place there is no much space to rotating machine and dissasembling on their table so i have to transport machine to my place and i hate taking machines from customer but life is not easy all the time
Just watching SM and if i understand you good this marked red should be flag/lever you talk about?

Yes. It is unusual long and is very tiny also where it was broken in my case. There are rollers down mechanics that maybe not acting smooth as well so check pickup rollers operation too.

I've changed a few of these on Lexies. Even if you do get it reformed correctly, it becomes so malleable that it won't hold the proper shape. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                  1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                  2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                  3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                  4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.

Well said BC. I considered some repair myself but as it's so long and tiny near the weak point and at the same time is moving with rollers...

                      What a crap design.
When i pull down and clean pick up rollers i noticed they are not going up straight up but stop at half way up and go futher up with some push, it must be that lever sticking or out of position.
Sad thing is i have about 20 of these 40xx series leased, if they all start acting like this i will quit my job

I can confirm all of the above. Tricky to change. Be carful, a broken one can easily be removed but mounting a new one is a different story. Replaced few of these so far.

I assume power supply and duplex must be removed to gain some access to this section?

I'd be willing to bet it's the paper feed clutch as we've replaced a few of those so far (with these exact same symptoms) on these junk machines. It's not too hard to do and the instructions in the book are actually pretty much spot on EXCEPT, we just cut the wires and solder in the new clutch wires instead of chasing the harness all the way to the board. If it was designed correctly, there would be a connector near the clutch but apparently the brilliant engineers think it's impossible for a clutch to fail.
