    C458 K TCR issue

I had a noisy motor on toner hopper so i replaced the entire assy since it was just as much work to replace bad motor.

Then a few days later i had TCR issue on K

I did manual toner add on K and got it back to 6%

Same thing occurred about a week later.

I replaced the K Dev just in case.

    Another week later same problem.

I suspect something isn't right in the hopper but I dont get why a manual toner add resolves it, doesn't that mean everything is functioning?

I had the same problem in one C308 and had to change all the Sub Hopper Assy

Check hopper for toner on next call... hoper toner sensor does not detect that the toner has depleted. Just use a painting brush open the hopper cover and clean it....

The chances are that the paddle in the sub hopper has come adrift and is not pulsing the sensor to start the bottle rotation.

If you do hopper filling and toner supply in service mode it doesn’t use the sensor, that’s why it works.

The paddles can be knocked out of place on new units during transport so it’s worth checking.

Check this thread out C284e c2557 code Read it to the end!

This is for c284e but the hoppers work the same way.

Removal is not required to put it back if you have a suitable thin hook tool

Every time i've changed a hopper at least one has been detached, even out of the box, it happens in transit. The last one i did all 4 were detached.

turns out actuator was working fine but the sensor was dirty.

if hopper is empty and actuator down sensor is un blocked / full is blocked sensor

i suspect due to it being dirty it thought it was always full so never replenished

i ended up swapping the unit and not discovering the sensor issue till back in office
