C558 w/PC-415 shifter only moving half way across

    Hello again all.
I have a C558 with a PC-415 large capacity tray that has an issue with the shifter section. It will only move the secondary stack half way and stop in the middle of the tray.
The main body will then beep and display "Set the correct paper size for tray 3".
    No error codes.
I thought it might be a registration problem with the shifter motor, so I racked the paddle all the way to the right and is returns home without issue.
I removed and inspected the belt, and it looks OK.
I swapped the tray from another PC415 and it had no problems. So it's the tray and not the chassis.
I didn't find anything relevant on OneStop.
    Any suggestions are welcome.
    Thanks!!

We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.
    The medication helps though...

        well, shit...
what happens if you try to help it shift? can you access it by removing the 2 top trays?

There's a white lever in the bottom of the tray that actuates a sensor when the tray shifts and actuates it. that lever has a spring that pops out of it and causes issues.
Also, the paper empty actuator is famous for not popping back up all of the way because they have no spring on it and they didn't make the opposite end of the actuator heavy enough to pull the actuator back up, if it is in the down position. We glue a small washer to the opposite end of the actuator to pull the actuator back up.

so...I was able to watch the action by removing trays 1 and 2. The media sensor in the back left corner was not returning.
clean it up, tweak the spring, good to go.

            Thanks again!
