Konica Minolta Bizhub C654e - ghosting from the future... and the past...

I am getting black smudges from full color prints out of tray 3 mostly near the top and bottom of the page but sometimes also in the center of the page.

I noticed pretty quickly that words from other pages were being ghosted as negatives in the smudges and eventually after some cleaning the ghosting went away and then came back and turned into positives (I cleaned the black DV and the smudges went away for about 500 sheets)

The ghosting on odd number pages has the page number 5 pages in front of it ghosted on the page (so page 153 has a ghosting of page 158)
The ghosting for even number pages has the page number 8 pages before it (page 156 has the ghost mark of page 149)

I found this fascinating but obviously seems like build up on the transfer belt.

The thing about this is transfer belt is at 89% life, fuser is at 75% life DR/DV K are both over 50% life.

I did leave the color DV units in past life because they were still printing good but am about to replace them

It seems as though if I use tray 2 long ways for 8.5x11 the ghosting doesn't occur. I know this might be due to both slower speed and imprint orientation.

Do we think there is a transfer belt issue or since I cleaned the DV and it went away is it just building up and I should replace all IU's and DV/DR at once even though its premature?

    Thanks!

The on with 153, the ghost image looks like 158. My Question is how is the ghost image in a totally different position when compared to the original image. I would not line up in landscape or portrait.

Have you stopped the process in mid cycle to see if it is on the drum of the ITB belt. Also look at the fuser at that mid cycle.

If all else fails read the Service Manual!

If that fails, meet me at the pub and we will discuss it.
