I'm getting an oil can display on copier panel, when touched, I get a P-8 which says it is the yellow IU. I put in a new one, but still get the P-8 code; tried a gradation test but did not get a printout. Printed a solid yellow sheet and the area close to the toner side of the copier, printed solid yellow but color got lighter going across the sheet.

Any suggestions on what to do?

Dont that that'll work, his issue is a yellow iu only issue according to him, that fix applies to p6-9 codes, across the board. hv common control via icp line...

Have u checked all the contacts in the back of the machine where the iu meshes to the main body?

try leveling out the developer in the unit because the Inage units could have been shipped on end! Remember to try the KISS method.
