Curved Thick Paper on Bizhub C250i/300i etc... series

    Hi guys!

Hope someone could give me some advice...
We have a few customers who prints their Menu's on thick paper (between 100g-150g). We noticed that those prints on thick paper comes out with one big curve. With duplex print its obviously better, but still "bend" on two edges.
Fusing Temp/Speed changes slightly the situation, but absolutly not acceptable. With different Paper-Manfucatures the problem remains the same. Maybe someone out there with the same issue?
The problem is the same on 25/pages machines and also on 45/pages, no difference. To be correct, we provide Olivetti as Brand, so the issue is on the "MF259 etc", that are the same as the C250i and so on

Thanks in advance for your support!

Its strange that there is no real purpose for the change in the document. Do you think the 2nd transfer could really "curve" the paper?
We will absolutly give a try at this!
In attachment to this post some pictures of the paper to have in idea... 2 pictures are tests in our shop. The 3rd is made by our customer. Obviously everything worked fine with the "old" machine that they had before(a MF454, equals to a C458)IMG_20230216_164933_resized_20230216_045445523.jpg

I think "it is what it is" and another transfer roller won't change that since this occures as a side effect during the fusing process. The manufacturers are cutting costs on all ends - Ricoh also "lightened" up the complecity of the exit unit for some models so there is less effect in reducing of curling/curving tendency. You will also notice that different sorts of papers do show this more or less depending of the quality and if the paper is optimized for LEF/SEF operation. Humidityand low temperature room enviroment can also increase thie phenomenon. C458 might also had a fuser with larger diameters so it's nip band (the area where both roller are pressed together) is less curvy by design leading to less curvy print results.

Usually the effect reverses a lot once the print stack has cooled down and sit for a while.

For me, the only difference between the two "2nd image transfer roller" is the gear that couples the transfert belt.
The new transfer roller as the gear as the series 4e and 8.

I like the look of this one better. This series does not have much in the way of de-curling. It's too bad it is not a production machine with real de-curling functionality. =^..^=
