I'm a UPS Store franchisee looking to replace a Ricoh Pro C5100s with a bizhub c450i. I don't do a ton of sheet-fed print business, we've specialized in wide format sign printing. I have a bizhub c458 at 3 other locations and would put them up against the light production Ricoh anyday for the type of printing we do. We've had the Ricoh since 2014 and it only has 450k clicks on it so we're not doing big volume. Any input is appreciated.

As for bizhubs C458 is midrange 8 series colour machine and they are proven to be good lineup.
With big display and dual scan it's perfect for office mfp. Good quality and software is enough modern and proven.
C450i is newest and somehow unproven. They have blazing fast IT6 hardware and latest firmware resolves most of initial products problems but still suffer from relatively high CPUB and SSDs failure rate and image quality is not exactly what it used to be.A tree is known by its fruit, a man by his deeds. Good insight. I should have shared that our franchise agreements require us to replace our machines with a new model every 6 years for business class and 7 years for production so that is my reason for swapping out the Ricoh. If I could I would put in a c458 and call it a day but it has to be new equipment from the manufacturer. We're also having a lot of issues with the Ricoh. The techs say it's the age.Comment

However I'm always amazed how people asking for a help can miss a lot of important information in their inquiry. If you are satisfied with your KM service provider then, well why not test their latest and greatest machine.A tree is known by its fruit, a man by his deeds. For what it's worth the UPS stores here in NJ all use BizHub's. Over the years they went from the "4" series to the "8" series and now the "i" series. The owner has 3 stores and said he would never try another brand. His words were "if not broke why fix it".
I believe some Kon/Min dealers are still selling the "8" series they have left in stock which would make them "new" and overall are not 6 years old. If not able to find a new "8" series the "i" series will work well for you.Comment
