Anyone rebuilding I Series drums?

As titled, anyone rebuilding these drums? new blade, new pcr, new cleaning roller and new opc then new chip? Had success on the 4 and 8 series but not tried on this range of machines - reason I am asking is that I am rarely seeing a drum make its intended lifespan!

I have done this quite a few times. When we had supply issues getting hold of some units, we swapped over parts from new 8 series units to get them back up and running.

Useless information. The DR313/316 charge roller assy fits on a C759 CMY.

Side note.
Those charge rollers are total crap. We have rebuilding Brother MFPs drum units with corona wire countless times and they are still holding strong.
The amount of DRs with charge roller we have to trash is huge against lack of ozone filter environment wise.

I'm seeing many of our off lease units we buy to refurb coming in with the charge roller cover removed. When we see it, all 4 seem to be off, so I believe techs are aware the ozone is rotting the foam. Not necessary in locations where they will be using the drums up in short time frame. Very useful if lower volume customer, under contract.

They seem to be playing with the spiral cleaning roller design. It's on some new OEM drums, then not. Can't figure out why unless we are getting some older stock. They came directly from KMBS.

Do we agree that the 8 series DR313 drum cylinder and (what other?) parts are working well in i series? Anyone gotten decent or full yield from them using a certain vendor's compat. parts? THANK YOU!

I think the spiral foam roller is only used for units with higher yield, like the BH308e for example.

Rebuilding is possible and pretty easy.

Yes, but I'm looking for long term results. We've r/b lots of bizhub 200, 223, C220, 4/e series over the years. Even with 90% good but a few defects not detectible by eye, but fail in the field left us very picky about vendors and quality control. Defect rates over a few % makes the whole thing useless when you are slammed with calls.
On the 8's we are happy for now just buying OEM K and converting to YMC as needed.
Now the i series drum pricing is high. I wonder if it's too early to ask who has had consistent good compat. r/b results, and what vendor?

If you want to stay on he safe side you can convert 8 seried drum to i series (proper way) or salvage the parts to refurb the i series drum unit (quicker way).
It's probably too early to comment on long time experiences on my end, too and I'm sitting in a different market region.

Usually there is no clear vendor but in europe some distributors like THS (Germany) or Biuromax (Poland) are offering kits. I also did some tests with stuff from Katun wich did not backfire yet.

From what I have seen with this, the original set of drums from the factory did not have the plastic cover over the charge/cleaning roller area. All replacement drums from KM do have the plastic cover. I'm not sure exactly why this is, perhaps a way to distinguish an "original" from a "replacement" when submitting for warranty? Would seen like a stupid idea, as one could just remove the cover before returning, but who knows what goes on in the collective mind of KM.

From my experience, this seems to be exactly the case.
