sd506 - fold heavier paper without staples ?

    sd-506 Specifications

i need 4 sheets 150g Half-Fold, it worke only if Fold & Staple

    Maximum Fold & Staple sheets 10 sheets 163 g/m2 to 216 g/m2.
So my question is is it possible to cheat and fold heavier paper without putting staples?

hey you can always try however the toner may not stick to the paper or smear because the fuser is not hot enough and the speed will increase lowering the odds of proper adhesion and registration.
but if you are only killing a tree and some time, experiment.
    YMMV

    The medication helps though...

      How to try?
I tried to physically remove the staple cartridge, it won't let me print.
As soon as I tell him no staple then he is ready to fold only 3 sheets .
How do I make him think he's doing staple without staple ...

i meant set the machine for a lighter weight to see if it allows what you want it to do

The specs are there for a reason..If you own this machine and work on it yourself, then do anything you want..If I am your service provider and you break something by "cheating" then you are going to pay for the damage. E

No one is trying to break anything, just looking for a logical way to do what makes sense.
What is the difference between folding with staples and without? It's the exact same action.
Just probably most people don't need this function so it doesn't exist.

You are incorrect..you can fold and staple with the copier style finisher, but you are limited to maybe 16-20 sheets. The SD 506 provides binding functions. Now you can fold and staple 200 sheets to make a real nice book. The issue here is the mechanical device doing the folding. this is not sending a 100 sheet booklet to be folded then stapled, your are folding up to 5 sheets and then these folded sheets are nested to have further binding options done..Stapling, trim ect..(5 sheets was through the post inserter at around 50 gsm). So if you have up to 62 to 81 GSM you should be able to run 5 sheets folded and exited. 83GSM drops you down to 3 sheets and here is where cheating the machine can break it..If you are running 90 lb papersm and you simply say nah, it's 80GSm. the stack is now too thick for this style of folder to do its job..It may work for some time, but it's not designed to fold this number of sheets at the actual gsm and it will break.

Edit if you have the FS532 as the output, you can 1/2 fold here..4 sheets should not be a problem

I can't understand what you want.
The machine performs the same operation. Why the difference between the weights of the papers between each other?

                  Half-Fold/Tri-Fold: 5 sheets 50 g
                  Fold & Staple sheets 10 sheets 163 g/m2 to 216 g/m2

When I do a half fold it does the same action of Fold & Staple just without the Staple .

Yes I have FS532 how can I fold there? It does not have a folding option.

He doesn't want anything it's just you asking outside specs or something.

I should have been clearer..If you have the SD1 in the 532 then you might be able to select 1/2 fold. This is an option in office machines.

                        Ok
                        Thank you very much everyone,
The machine is really new to me.
Doing it with a lighter weight works just fine, I thought there was another way because I really don't understand what the difference is between with or without pins.

Is there a problem setting paper 80 instead of 140?
                        The print comes out great.
