bizhub C454e format detection problem with paper tray 1

Has anyone had problems with these machines and correct detection of the format in tray 1 (or 2 because its the same dectection mechanism)
It says 8 1/2 * 11 instead of correct DinA4. Last time i pressed against the tray so it got a little further in and the format dectection was correct again
and it had worked several weeks. Now same problem again.
I've swapped the left photointeruptor bar from tray 1 and 2, tried another tray nothing. It's tricky because the problem can disappear
and you don't see any obvious reason. I wanted to replace the whole frame with the detection mechanism on the right side but
you can't order it as complete part.
    Thank you.

      Thank you
But machine has been working fine for 10 years until recently.
      Can't be the problem.

+1. Yea right on the connector. Replaced plenty of those harnesses. You can just re crimp the wire with a small flat blade screwdriver if you are in a pinch but it will break again in time.
          Whatever

This is very interesting information. Is this wiring problem just with the 45+ ppm machines, or the whole 4e line? We have had hundreds of 4e machines out in the field over the years (still probably have close to about 120 left), and not once, as in NEVER, had an issue with tray sensor wiring in any of them. Any sort of bulletin on this, or is this just based on tech experience?

Thank you so much. It was the wiring loom.
When I tried to unplug the cable from the sliding block/paper size sensors, it just teared off, because it was so brittle.
                  Nasty error.
