colorcal is trash as far as calibration. did you do the scanner calibration first like the manual says?
you need an es-2000 or eye-1 to calibrate with any accuracy.
colorcal was ok on the old cf-1501 but not on current controllers.
you would almost be better off to reset to default calibrations and adjust the color curves yourself by eye

nobody can service a fiery properly without a densitometer.
if you werent so far away id lend you mine.

is there nobody you know in the industry that can loan you one?

If scanner calibration is enabled for the Fiery ES in Calibrator preferences (in Command WorkStation), a ColorCal Scanner page is printed as well as the ColorCal Calibration page.We recommend that you always calibrate the scanner before calibrating the Fiery ES.5 Retrieve the printed pages.6 If a ColorCal Scanner page was printed, place the grayscale strip and Color Control patches according to theinstructions on the page, and press Measure to initiate the scan.7 When the display indicates that the measurement was successful, press Continue.Color PrintingCalibration298 Follow the instructions on the screen and on the ColorCal Calibration page to place the page on the glass platenalong with the grayscale strip, and press Measure to initiate the scan.9 When the display indicates that the measurement was successful, press Continue.10 Optionally, press Test Print to print a test page. You can examine the test page to decide if the calibration is successful.11 If the calibration is successful, press Apply to save the measurements.
did you run the copier gradation calibrations? if doesnt scan them or says NG there may be something wrong.
We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.
    The medication helps though...

      Good morning Synthohol,

Thank you for your response yesterday, I totally agree regarding the densitometer, we have one in the office but I was trying all options before booking a return visit.

Just to confirm the C458's scanners works as it should and I did run auto grad prior to attempting the calibration. It's just strange that the scanner makes no attempt to move at all when trying the colorcal measurement, I just thought someone may have had this before and I could try whilst onsite.

Return visit booked and I have purchased my very own ES-1000 for the car!

      Thanks again Synthohol.

i dont think the es-1000 is compatible with todays fierys, you may need an eye-1 or es-2000 but i hope i remembered wrong.

So, you calibrate the MFP, then go into Fiery tools and print the measurment page, you add the Kodak scale and the MPF will not even attempt to scan the page?

            Hi emujo2,

            That is correct.

            Have you had this before?

            Thanks.

if you open the fiery with CWS and calibrator see if its an option in the drop down.
