[Misc] C450i USB firmware procedure

Hi all

I have a C450i at hand, the machine's memory card/SSD was wiped clean and won't boot up. I obtained firmware from a local contact, AA2J0Y0-F000-G00-Q8. I was told to put the entire folder "FW0020" under the root of the USB, which I did. However, after powering up the machine with "reset"-button pressed from the back of the display, the machine stays at boot screen and won't load firmware update routine.

What am I doing wrong?

What you are doing wrong is that you do not have to press the reset button, but the stop button. If you remove the cover behind the operator panel, it is the one on top.

It could also be the USB drive you have, would you have another one you can try? We have had trouble with 8gb sticks before. 4gb and under seem to be okay.

Did I get the wrong firmware? Maybe I should try some older versions of the firmware? If so, can I get access to the firmware through you guys? Much appreciated!

Either the wrong firmware, or it's corrupted. Make sure you completely wipe the USB drive before copying the firmware to it. Use this instead of Windows formatting.

If you have deleted the ssd (I don't understand how), you should remove it and connect it to a computer, delete all partitions and format it in FAT 32, then repeat the firmware upload process.

Another possibility is that you have the STRGB (old called SSD) damaged, so the machine will not load the fw.

is there a bulletin somewhere that suggests putting the SSD in a computer? anywhere?
the copier is quite capable of formatting itself with the proper procedure.

that being said, have you tried only selecting the MFP to load FW and deselect everything else including fax on the 2nd page if installed/shown.

I was able to upload the firmware for ADF and Finisher, the only part that failed was MFP controller, see pic. I also reformatted the USB-stick and re-wrote the firmware into it. Any thoughts?

Yes, there is. In fact it is a system to be able to use a STRBG from one machine to another. It is already well known.

i was genuinely asking because ive been out on disability for over a year and i lost my MKM access and used to get all the latest bulletins emailed to me but i havent in a while as ive been cut off.

I had the same problem an 2 of my 450i's. one was the cpu board that was faulty and the other one was the FW that was faulty, had to whipe the boards and started to do FW from base FW to latest
