based on all the previous advise i checked all the bits and pieces ... not electrical problem, all sensors and motors work.
it seems to be either the plastic piece that moves the metal part that goes inbetween the sensor ... or ... the rod connected to the solenoid.
i put some duct tape on the plastic piece making it thicker so it pushes the metal part inbetween the sensor earlier. the bypass try does rise, and i am able to print successfully.
maybe it needs more adjustment to work reliably, the rod connected to the solenoid looks longer that it should, maybe it does not pull on the solenoid as it should be when the machine was brand new.
i did print 200 sheets from the bypass tray but machine is throwing the occasional C-0213 error code, which went away after rebooting the machine.
Is this related to the bypass tray? C-0213 is a paper exit code.
