    C-360i Control Panel issues...

    Hey guys.

So I delivered this machine used a few months ago. Only has 41K on it. Went out there today for a problem where the screen will not HOME, when the home button is pressed. Seems to allow every other icon to function on the panel, but when the customer is at (say) the Scan screen, and they want to return home, they can't do it and have to turn the machine back off and on and even unplug it from the wall sometimes to get it back.

My understanding is that this can simply be a display calibration issue, but wondered if anyone had anything else to add.

    Thanks!

Never had this problem on i-series.
Try with firmware update and a display calibration

Have you disabled the Marketplace app?
I have seen several issues with the op panels on iSeries when using the Marketplace app.

Failing to plan is planning to fail!!!

Is it set to go back to home screen after idle for 60 seconds and not doing that or do you mean when you press the home icon it doesnt go home

Thanks guys.. No, I think the panel is set to go home after 60 seconds but its not doing that either. Yes, the marketplace is disabled (I do this on all the machines) and NO, it will not go home, even if the home button is pressed. Strange how it will make every other icon available other than the home, but I'm going to try calibrating (the TP setting seems to be more about sensitivity than actual calibration).

It's always a pleasure to read something like that:

            GC2-Q8
This firmware has an issue where the reset key does not respond after waking up from power save mode. The issue of the reset key not responding will not occur if you set software SW No. 227 Hex02.

...I can remember a piece of information about the screen not switching to the home screen, but unfortunately I can't find anything more about it.

            But look at this:

            2. Fixed issue

To fix the issue that the touch panel does not work when it is touched.

The Jig firmware can be applied to the machine with Panel CPU ver. A2J0Y0-8900-G30-08
            and updates it to A2J0Y0-8900-G30-09.

Please refer to [Eagle Touch Panel issue_Develop.xlsx] for Serial numbers of the affected machines.

            3. How to install
Same as the way for updating MFP firmware.

i just had to replace a touch screen that kept freezing on a c300i

its handy to have a spare touch screen as you can simply plug it in at the IO panel and leave it on a table or something next to copier for customer to trial for a few hours.
the 2nd cable is just for the haptic feedback so for testing u can live without it

There was a special Panel CPU firmware issued in the US market to prevent the issue of non-responsive touch screens. I would assume it is available in other markets as well. Below is a chart that outlines the models, serial numbers, and firmware version for each.

                -----------------
                Overview
An issue has been identified in specific serial numbers where the Operation Panel Touch Screen becomes unresponsive to
                input.

                Solution
For MFPs exhibiting this issue and falling within the specified Serial Numbers below:
                • Update the Panel CPU firmware version from A2J0Y0-8900-G30-08 to A2J0Y0-8900-G30-09 using Special Firmware GXX-xx available via the One-Stop Product Support webpage.
                • C550i: Take note of the machine’s Serial Number (to identify “with Memory Board” and “without Memory Board” machines; reference Technical Bulletin 12791) before downloading and installing the Special GXX-xx Firmware.
