    C300i J2001

    Hi guys.

I was driven nuts by a C300i today giving J2001 from tray 2. The paper clears the tray but then jams in front of the registration roller every 20 pages or so. Tried cleaning the feed unit and the relay rollers and every thing else, even adjusted the loop adjustment up and down with no luck. Could not see any nicks on the leading edge. After repeating the same thing over and over again like a mad man I removed the mylar guide strip on the first tray guide on the feed unit itself and operated the machine without it. That worked to fix the J2001 jams from tray 2 but the first tray jammed that needed that mylar to function. I reattached the mylar to the 2nd tray and the problem was resolved.

Summary of this tale would be that I guess the mylar was glued on ever so slightly out of position from the factory(Only 25K on the clock) causing J2001.
    Whatever

Interesting! I've seen plenty of those tray edge mylars bend & mangled by endusers, but never saw it affect a different tray. Almost always you get a paper skew, or it never gets out of the same tray with the bent mylar. Thanks for sharing. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Makes sense we had this resolution.

Jam Code 20-01, first jammed sheet in position right side door (below sync area) - slightly skewed and crumpled (slightly pushed together).Another jammed Paper approximately 1cm above the side door. Probably defective paper feed assy (AA2JR72100). Replace the Paper feed Assy (AA2JR72100).

Yea this can keep you busy. The mylar causing this issue is not on the tray but on the guides on the feed unit itself. That is there to form the vertical conveyance path.

As the guide is transparent same as the mylar its quite difficult to see the edge of the mylar. The easiest way to check is if you run your finger upwards you will feel the bottom edge of the mylar sticking over the guide and not in it. Took me a little while to find it the 1st time.
