    [Jamming] J9901

Can anyone please give insight into the cause of this jam. I know of a could of reasons but clearly do know know all of them.
Thinking more of the 4 and specially the 8 series machines. Anyone been using the AA2J blue separation roller or the A64J type roller on the older machines?
    Whatever

J9901 has such a broad spectrum of possible culprits, but of all of them that I've seen only one was actually a problem with the copier itself, that was a rabbit hole. Firmware, which driver are they using, what file, what program, is it from the internet or downloaded, there are a lot of reasons but these are the most common ones I see but not in any specific order.

We just started but not a lot of clicķs of new ones. Can't stock them all so we're kinda experimenting.
As per 9901 those are size/timing jams so sleeping rollers/clutch or slow returning sensor arms.

I have had J3003 because of application settings...

There are 2 physical causes that are becoming real irritating to fix.

The paper size detection wires when before they completely break of goes between LTR/A4 at the speed ot the MCU clock. Its like Schrodinger's cat its both sizes all at once until it reaches the registration roller. Changing the paper to SEF makes it workable. Not sure if ya yanks with the LTR size get the same thing.

Then that shaft in the paper drive (8 series 45 to 65 ppm) with this @#$% weird coating on it makes the one-way bearings bind to it. Found out that the i series inherited the exact same bad assembly with an all new part number.

We had machines moons ago where this error called a logic jam did not exist. As if the grey beard that designed these things retired and the new guys swept the issues they can not understand under this rug called the J9901. If they really really do not get it, it goes under J9903.
        Whatever

Used new rollers for many years. Also on C3350i devices. Have to cut off the lock on the blue roll.

Running LTR sized paper here, and I can honestly say that our company has not come across any paper size issues caused by wires at all, in any of the 1000's of machines we've service in the 10 years I've been working here. It must affect one of the sensors that doesn't get triggered when using US sized paper.

The only machines we've ever had paper size issue with was the 7-series machines. Those aren't a wiring issue, those are caused by the cheaply made and sloppy plastic sizing plate attached to the back of the paper drawers. There is so much slop in it that when set to certain sizes, the push button switch behind the tray doesn't get pushed in all the time as it hits right on the very edge of the plastic sizing plate, and when the drawer is inserted, sometimes it misses the plunger slips off the side of the plate and doesn't get pushed in. We've had to modify the plate to extend the edge ever so slightly so it gets pushed in each time the drawer is pushed in.
