    Konica Minolta bizhub i-series c300i

    Hi guys,

I have one almost new (~50k pages) C300i. The problem is with Black toner which atfer 3or 4 days is gone and lands in WTBox. It happend 2times in a week or two and the copier printed c.a.1k pages. New, Oem toners:/ any idea why?

When you install a new toner does the TCR come up to an acceptable level?

Yes, tcr is~6.5-7% . Adding toner manualy im tech mode increases tcr properly and printing Black samples decreases it. Strange situation:/ 3 or 4 days and the toner is empty with small anount od prints.

Dev unit problem ? Print samples are fine.

I don't think it's working like that. Tcr should never drop too much even with toner empty message.
It should report toner empty when sensor in sub hopper is signalling not actually TCR sensor in dev unit.
I think sensor in sub hopper is culprit there was bulletin somewhere in forum.

Its not dropping from 6.5% for example to 5 or 4%. It decreases slightly for c.a 0.25%. when printing it never went down over 6%.

ill look for a billetin here

                Hi again.
Yesterday i disasammbled subhopper and i think that the sensor was stucked. Vacumed toner in hopper and the flag is moving properly.

Hope it will resolve the problem. Will se in a few days.

                Cheers!

Correct, thats why I wanted to know how low TCR was when he rammed a new toner in it. If its down to nothing something is screwed in the sub, most likely the shaft that the mylars are on is out of place front or back.

Forgive me if I am wrong, but when the TCR drops below a certain % then toner is moved to the hopper. If the sub hopper gets stuck, the toner runs out and the dev unit starves -giving you faded prints and toner density errors with the toner tube still full.

I've had cases where the imaging unit fails VERY early and just eats toner, usually its the magenta or yellow that fail. Little to no quality issues until the drum cleaning fails.
You could try and do a stop check by deliberately jamming the copier and see how much toner is on the drum?
