The only thing that boot rom update is going to do is add support for additional SSDs from Konica. It's likely your SSD is bad. Have you run the diagnostic firmware?

Hi, can you let me know what SSD brand/model you use?

            FYI, Konica vendor locks them....
A Kioxia KBG4AZNS256G is what Konica calls the "112-layer storage board". There are Phison, and Nanya boards too. However, I only have the Kioxia on my desk right now. it may require updating your boot rom.

Ok thanks, I thought your post said you use other brand disks?:

No, that was plus-Copy. I can tell you from experience that you have to use M.2 SSDs in the "approved" list and no they don't give us a list....We've had to figure it out by taking copiers apart. You will be able to install the firmware on a non-approved SSD but the copier will not actually boot. The boot firmware will stop you. I have not tried in the latest releases of the boot firmware but I suspect Konica would not want to remove that restriction. SD cards on the other hand....are free game. No restrictions other than size there.

As far as formatting storage goes, as long as it wasn't used in another Konica the firmware updater will format the disks with the right partitions for the copier. When we get replacements they come completely blank from Konica.

Formatting the disk blank comes into play when you are trying to use used parts from other copiers.

                  Hello.
                  It's been a while since I visited.
                  What a pity.
I can't write because of the red warning.
Please change to a new storage.
It can't be used as a general PC storage.
                  1. Prepare a new storage.
                  2. Connect the storage board to the reader.
                  3. Format to FAT32.
                  4. Run the firmware Storage controller/CPU controller/MFP/printer.
                  5. Power OFF/ON
