Is that for tray 3? If it is, I looked at that point before putting the feeder mechanism back in and there was a spring there. So a tech prior to me must have not found the spring and replaced it.

Might even have been there forever. I found one in the bottom of a finisher once.Brand new, just out of the box.

While watching the tech change the feed rollers for the manual bypass tray he dropped a screw so that it went under tray 3. He left it there so I looked for it when I had tray 3 out fully but I couldn't find it anywhere!!! Very strange, as I saw it roll under there myself.

I recall remotely that sometimes one of the gears was cracked or "mooned out"

The sticker on top of the push button is called "Label" and has the #A093 9406 11.

Precision Roller has them in stock. Their #M4707, price USD 9.95

Hans, you mentioned this push label and when looking elsewhere for it, as the place you gave is out of stock, I found one for $1.99 here: A093940611 Label Push A093940600 (but the cost of shipping is awful for such a small piece).

But this looks like an actual label! I have a hole where this 'button' should be (or should there be one??). Is there an actual plastic piece that the label is put on?

Here is what I am talking about:

So this area just has a flexible 'rubber type' label that is stuck over the 'hole' with only the edges of the label sticking to the surrounding plastic of it? If that's the case, that's a very poor design.

t might also have thin square or circle of rigid plastic over the switch. Before touch screens, a lot of control panel key pads were made that way.

Is it like I suspected? That's its a sort of rubber diaphragm that only sticks on over the hole via the surrounding edges of the opening? If that's the case when I get my label I'll add a piece of plastic to the back of the label so that one doesn't have to push the label in so much. I also think the glue isn't strong enough. I have some acrylic tape that I can use, which has an extremely strong adhesive.

You'll need more than just that sticker/label to properly fix it. If you look at your picture closely at the inside edge of the hole there is a small amount of plastic at the top right and bottom left of the hole. There was a small plastic square piece that was attached to cover by two very thin strips of plastic connecting to the top right/bottom left. It was kind of 'spring' loaded by those small plastic tabs and floated over the hard circular button, terrible design as repeated use of the button over the years resulted in the plastic getting weak and falling off the cover. The sticker goes over all of that and isn't really needed at all.

The 100% (and most expensive) fix is to replace that entire front rectangular black tray cover, as it will have the small plastic square connected and intact, and the label. I've done that once in my very early years. After seeing more and more of them break I eventually just salvaged the broken square, stuck it to the sticky side of electrical tape and taped it over the opening, going out each side about 2" If the square was gone by the time I got on site, I would just tell the customer to deal with it as it works just fine without the square button.

If I were you I would try that or even better, leave it alone and use the small circular button to open the tray when necessary.

in a pinch (and there were many) i cut a pencil eraser in half and stuck it to a square of duct tape then apply over the button.
looks like crap but worked perfect!
was a time on the old Di series the buttons would break but able to release the tray with a staple jumping the 2 wires.
We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.
                        The medication helps though...

Thanks to both of you for your responses. Gives me an idea or two!!

I find it really weird that Konica were able to design and build such a sophisticated digital copier and yet they couldn't design a proper little button for the front panel to open the LCT!! That's quite laughable.

The easiest thing to do would have been to bring the hard circuit board button closer to the hole and place just the label over it and have the label stuck to the edges of the opening. One would also make the opening smaller to give the label more material to adhere to.

I've had a helluva time trying to buy this label so I can do something with it. I've found it as low as $0.72!!! But since it was a special order they then whack a $15 special order charge onto it then shipping on top. Another place in California has it for $1.99 but charge $36 shipping via UPS, whereas this item could be put into a regular envelope and sent for $1.47!!! I tried to get that company on the phone but they just have an answer machine telling me to leave a message, which I have done a few times with no-one calling me back.

I called Konica directly in Canada and they told me to contact the people who came out and changed the feed roller for the manual feed, which I don't want to do.

Why is it SO difficult to get such a tiny piece? Its bloody frustrating.

Is anyone here willing to sell me this item and have it sent to me via regular mail from wherever you are? I'm not even sure I'm allowed to ask this here. Sorry if I have broken protocol. The part s called: Konica Minolta A093940611 Push Label Assembly
