Manual bypass tray on Konica C253 very easily flops down. How to fix?

The manual bypass tray on my Konica C253 folds up to be out of the way, but it is very easily movable so that it falls down into the horizontal position at the barest of touches. Is there any way of 'tightening' this tray so that it doesn't fall down in this way?

    tape.
lets face it, thats a machine more than 10 years old, the fact that it still powers on without an error is a gift horse.
the wee plastic nub wears over time or the tray hinge gets bent.
either way you can fix this with super glue and a coin earth magnet.
magnet on the tray and maybe glue a small metal plate of some kind on the body so it would need a bit more than a bump to open.

do you need/want service and parts manuals?
We know a thing or two because we've seen a thing or two.
    The medication helps though...

I would love to have service and parts manuals, yes! Do they come with the exploded diagrams (if that's what they're called!) that have been posted by others? I have also found that since I am in Canada there are very few places that advertise their stuff for older printers so I have found that the US is where a lot of places are, seems there are a lot of copier places that sell parts in California.

And a response to your first sentence... when I first got the printer it would come up with one or two errors persistently, and sometimes wouldn't even get past the warm up stage, but then I found a post elsewhere that showed how to reset the system (like a complete reinstallation of the Operating System - similar to what one does when Windows doesn't work anymore, you can get the OS to reinstall itself if you know the key combinations to use) which is what I did and I haven't had a problem since.

i found them to be pretty floppy even from brand new.

had one at a customers who had wooden floor boards and if anyone walk past the copier even the floorboard movement was enough to cause it to drop down/open.

Customer ended up just taping it closed

I'm surprised they didn't take note of how Apple design some of there computers - using magnets to keep things in place. Their iMacs (all-in-one computers) only have magnets that hold the screen to the case. They are quite small neodymium N52 magnets so are very strong for their size. I'll probably do something like that - use mild steel, magnets and acrylic tape.
