    RADF Separation Roller, modified

    Hey guys...

So, because I rebuild stuff in my shop for the KM products, I've been buying parts online from Chinese suppliers. And - as you might expect - sometimes you get a dud, but can easily modify it to work, if its feasible.

The picture that I attached is from a Doc Feeder separation assy/roller. You guys have probably replaced tons of these over the years. But when I bought the last set of rollers, customers started to complain that they would double-feed, a LOT... Found out that the generic roller was made JUST a little bit too short on the boss side that contacts the frame of the holder (black plastic).

I found that I had to install a spacer washer between the roller and the frame, because the roller being too short was allowing it to separate from the torque/dfp bearing, and spin freely on its own. This mod keeps the roller and the hub connected and allows the roller to only turn slightly, where before, it will free roll all on its own.

If you get any of these rollers from China directly, you'll have this same issue, evidently.

    Hope this helps someone!

OC thanks. I use only OEM one separation roller assembly from bizhub 223 DF part number A143PP0100. It's dirt cheap around here and serves well on all xx4e, xx8 and xx0i series similar style DFs.

We just use the standard OEM feed tire (A00J563600). Remove the "rubber" from the standard feed hub and slide it onto the hub for the ADF Sep roller. They wear out a bit faster, but last long enough to make it worth while. A lot less parts to have mess around with carrying, One tire to rule them all...

I forgot but long ago decided to pay the small price over changing only roller and take whole assembly which includes torque limiter.

Its a trick to get them on there but the hared blue AA2J560000 rollers last forever. Been using them on the 4 series paper feed separation and the feed rollers last up to and past 150K. Using that and the A64J564101 clip-on style every where helps a lot.
