Check the fuser area usually when a copier first starts then shuts off right away it's something in the fuser, a thermister or a thermostat. on the left side under the the main front cover there is a little cover that comes off after the screw is removed, under that cover are two push bottons one of those bottons will reset the copiers error aloowing it to bott up all the way. Good Luck

Sounds like something's shorting out. Does it happen if you turn the power on with the front cover open? That would eliminate the fuser and a couple of other things that don't turn on if the cover's open.

I remotely recall we once had an issue with the main relay Ry1.

Time2Fly is correct , you will find that one of the thermistors is shorting out. Take the fuser unit out and see if the machine starts up.

            Regards

If I remember there was a mod to fit a cover plate at the rear of the fuser to stop the fuser heater lamp cables chaffing/shorting...maybe worth a look!

The mod was for the Di450/550. It was built into the 470.
