    Minolta DI551 and Minolta DI5510

    Hi everybody,
Someone is giving me a good deal on a few Minoltas DI551 and DI5510, but someone told me that there is an issue with a gear that it usually breaks after 5000/10000 copies.
    Where is the gear located?
Is there a way to fix this issue?
Did Minolta Release a modification to fix this issue?
    Any help woud be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

Not heard of a gear breaking at all on these models let alone after a few thousand prints(have been working on these for 18 months now)

No idea. We have a bunch of these in the field, and I have yet to hear about this kind of problem. You should talk to your friend, and figure out exactly which gear he might be talking about.

never heard of such. The only small gear I had a problem with was the tiny one on the dv box and that may fail on 1 out of 20 machines after a few hundred thousand copies.

The only gear I've ever had problems with on these is the one-way on the decurl roller.

I don't know exactly which gear, but there is one on the dev unit that I had problems and I started replacing it every 5k ....until I did follow an advice to prevent overtoning....there is a huge post on this problem and couple of solutions
