The simplest way to be sure is to try and register it without the underscore. Different machines sometimes behave in different ways.

PS: Are you setting up machines on a porno movie factory or what?

I had this discussion when setting up a Samsung MFP to scan to SMB. The IT guy set up a rule that all passwords must have a special character. Samsung does not allow a special character on the password line when programming an scan to SMB addressbook entry.

"Can we create an exception: one password without a special character?"
"No. That's the rule. It must have a special character."
"Then you can't scan to SMB."
      blah, blah, blah....

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
