Stupid question: Was it a new fuser out of box or something else?

    Regards!

The machine should reset automatically with the new unit. There is a pico fuse on the wire harness that should blow open during the resetting process and the counter is reset.

Odds are high that you have the incorrect fuser for your market area, or the fuser pico fuse was open to begin with. What part number did you use for the new fuser? The following is fusing units for different market areas, dependent on the AC volt rating of the machine. The one in bold is typical for North America.

        1 4038 R774 11 FUSING UNIT 100V
        1 4038 R773 11 FUSING UNIT 110-127V
        1 4038 R782 11 FUSING UNIT 220-240V

you need to run a copy as the fuse does not blow when you turn m/c on but when you run 1st copy

Uh....no, this is incorrect. The count resets almost immediately when the power is turned on after replacing the unit.
