If you're trying to use Konica's FTP utility on anything above XP, then that could be the cause for your troubles.

Try another FTP server - I recommend Filezilla FTP Server, it's opensource. It can solve most of your FTP scanning issues, although you can eventually expect additional trouble when scanning to 64bit OSes.

if you go on the konica minolta website, the tech side of it. They actually have documentation on how to set it up step by step.

I'm using Windows 7. For scan to FTP, you can use Konica Minolta FTP Utility.
For SMB, you need to share your folder, add the guest account then set the permission level to read/write and set the permission to full control.

KonicaMinolta FTP-Utility never worked for me but Quick-'n-Easy FTP light does the job very well.

At the bottom of the page is the download link:

Quick 'n Easy FTP Server Lite
