Hi Everybody,
I went to a C6500 today which has been a dog since installed, only done 6000 pages apparently working great as I left, then got a call saying the machine had turned off and wouldn't turn back on again. The only indication there is any power is the Green LED on the right side of the display, which turns RED when sub power is turned off (and yes I have tried the contrast dial).
I am hoping some body some where has seen these symptoms and can shed a bit more light on it. I am leaning towards power supply, but wouldn't be suprised if it was something else.

Bugger, perhaps you could elaborate on the 'dog' issues and we could help you out. As for your red and green light this is typical of firmware corruption which I have only had when I stuffed up upgrading.

Seeing how you left and it was running I would suggest that it has been spiked or some such. First thing I would do is turn it on and try and rewrite the firmware (USB or parallel - USB worked for me) and take it from there. Invest in a power filter if this cures the fault as all your other issues may be due to poor power supply.

Hi Dogsbody there is a bulletin that sounds pretty much like what your experiencing (tech bulletin 6085) I attached that bulletin, this is prevention bulletin not a solution if it happens but I would expect that the power supply would blow out if it happens, hope this helps you. Good luck.

Went back this morning to to rewrite firmware but only had my USB stick because IT had my laptop. Can't believe I didn't think of firmware.
Wrote off my car after that so didn't get back today.
The wiring for the PFU could be an issue because i've had it on and off many times because the HT-503 has been giving intermitent low temp codes.

The machine has been in for about two weeks, Konica did the run up and install because it's the first of it's type in the area, they didn't survey the site because the power cord wouldn't reach. My first call was the second day for the HT-503, waiting for a new one now. Then it jammed constantly using synthetic paper - thats ongoing, then I got a code for the black write unit, 15 minutes after that it shut down.

I may be being harsh calling it a DOG but from everything i've seen, read and heard about them they should be almost bullet proof.

Will try ISW tommorrow and let you guys know.

Better wait till you get your laptop back, the memory stick isn't going to get you far with no screen!

As far as jamming, I had a newly installed m/c and the height on the sensors on the feed head were too high. They have a couple of screws that raise and lower the sensors. You should set the width screw widget thing and pull the tray out at check to see the feed height is right.

I have hadn't any troubles with the tray heaters so I can't help you there other than turn them off until the thing has settled down.

Out of interest there should be a round sticker on the write unit, what color is it?

Checked the wiring today and it was good.
I had a brief glimmer of hope whe I plugged the USB cable in and the laptop found new hardware - but ISW wouldn't connect so the port timed out. PTSC seem pretty sure it will be the printer control board so got one coming up on monday.

After being steered away from the DC power supplies and replacing the Printer Control Board with no success the product specialist from PTSC came up with a bunch of boards, long story short it was the DC supply with the the green circuit board (forget if it was 1 or 2), we also changed the Black Write Unit just in case it brought the supply down. Swapped the HT-503 with a new one did a bunch of image quality adjustments and now the machine is working. The guy from KM really knew his stuff and while not good for the customer was a good learning experience pulling the machine apart again.

Now I have to replace the the Hard Disk Array due to error codes. It shits me that this is the "only" one in Australia to have these problems, especially so early in it's life.

Dude, put a power filter on it - it would have paid for itself by now. If you get any error codes that relate to HDD failure you can copy a good drive to a bad one.

Did your one start to behave after all your work?

For about three weeks after he really hammered it, in that time did a transfer cleaning blade and a transfer belt all appeared well.
Then it started with C2212 & C2213 codes that wont go away. Got a call from my service manager friday saying konica would probably be replacing the machine.
So to answer your question no it is still being a great big POS and it is a shame that my opinion of them took a hit because I had high hopes.

Where do you start with codes like that? It sounds as though there is something seriously wrong with that machine. Let us know how it goes.

Well I re-seat the HDD, replaced the k write unit, turned off tray fans and prayed.

Something has seriously given this machine a bolt, all our others are fantastic.

While I was away we got some roms from konica that they described as beta at best. They seem to have worked, however the damage had already been done and the replacement machine arrived today. I'm hoping I have better luck with this one.
