Tray 1 says ???

Hi,

We have a Konica Bizhub 420. In the Paper selection tray 2 says A4 etc but Tray 1 now suddenly says ??? and the tray has locked itself such that you cant pull open the drawer.

I have looked at the side doors and there appears to be no jam.

I pulled the plug out (!) and switched it back on but its well and truly stuck

Any help?

If the left side guide is not against the paper the stack can slip back while paper is lifting, it may have pushed up and bound the drawer tight.

??? means it does not know what size is present.
For A4 check that the side guides are tight (against short edge of stack)

You may have to tug hard for the stuck drawer.

Depending on how much paper was in the drawer when it jammed shut, you might have to pull hard enough that the drawer is damaged in the process. Unfortunately, there's no other way to release the drawer from the lift motor since it isn't accessible from the back of the machine.
