Loading KM Firmware on a Develop +253

Hi all,

We have a few Develop +203/253 machines in the field and i'm keen to load the new firmware that stops the machine from locking up when the I.U/Belt/Fuser life is reached.

This will save us a load of hassle with visits and money on Chips but unfortunately Develop have only released the firmware for the later +220/280/360 series machine, and not the +203/253

The firmware is available from Konica Minolta for the C203/C253 and i'm wondering if this firmware can be safely loaded on the Develop branded kit.

Anyone done it yet? or know of any reason why it won't work?

HMM....I was told not to do it by a guy from Develop tech. However I did and it was OK...I loaded the machine when I added fax kit and had to load new FW..

It worked for me, HOWEVER....I had a incident when I had to do recovery of NV - RAM on +650 and no other FW was working than the one written by develop, I could actually hear a little relay to "click" when correct FW was on CF

...so ..it is a 70/30 chance that everything goes fine...

If you want I can try it on one of mine +203 on monday ..

Can I ask if you've loaded KM onto a +253/+203 jrf ?

And did you use Develop branded Toners and I.U's on it afterwards

Toners and IU's are not affected as this is pulled from service ROM and each manufacturer has its own on each machine. plus there is a open space in IU/Toner chip address tuning as one third party toner manufacturer managed to make (program) chip to fit all brands.


What could happen if DEVELOP FW is flashed on to Monica box? Probably the Page scope wouldn't work properly, but I can't say for certain as I have only 2 Monica boxes and they both out in the field and haven't been touched since.

Will see on Monday what the KM firmware does to the Develop machine probably nothing. ..as I think Monica box is the core product and Develop, Olivetti and others are just ADD ON ..

• ezzysi it looks like my machine is dead, but not due to the FW from you but for any other reason.

We have upgraded a Develop +203 now with the KM Firmware and everything seems ok.

All changes to soft-switchs etc have been made successfully as per the KM Bulletin so hopefully thats an end to buying Chips and fuses!!

The Minolta C203-253 drive is not good from the Develop 203 to 253 + Drive
