    C280 black dropping out

Black color dropping out in the middle of copy runs. Seems to be getting worse last time I was there black was almost never visible. Have tried replacing the black drum, transfer roller, transfer belt, and most recently the HV board per Konica. The next step is the black developer unit per Konica. Anyone seen this or have any other ideas?

The problem is with the clutch (CL6) on the rear drive assy. You can order just the clutch or the whole assembly

I am suprised they didn't do developer second. Does it differ on the amount of fill on the copies?
What is the page count? Developer is supposed to run 570,000 for black.

Pull out black developer and spin by hand, is it bound up at all? you can compare to a color DV.
Could be clutch like wal said too.

I'm with Wal on this one.

Had similar and ended up being the dev clutch. Suprised if it isn't the clutch.

Machine only has 188k on it, Dev isn't binding at all. I am going to try the clutch before the black dev and see what happens.

Machine we had the same issue with had done less than 100k. Only seen it happen once so far. But more and more machines getting out there. Handy to keep a spare clutch just in case.

I've been reading about this clutch on various other threads. Sounds like something I should keep on-hand. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
              1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
              2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
              3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
              4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
              5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Put the clutch in CL6 and it took care of the problem right away. Thanks for all the help.
