    BH-162, IC205, NC503,SU502, is it correct that....

.... this machine equipped wit the scan unit SU-502 cannot send an e-mail to an outside e-mail address because the machine doesn't have the authentication needed for the smtp server? Or am I overlooking something?

It's the email server that must be re-configured to allow sending outside to domain. Most larger companies specifically do not allow anonymous emails sent outside the domain. By forcing users to send to their personal email then forwarding, a name is attached, no longer anonymous.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

      Thanks Cat,

That would implicate the need of an Inhouse e-mail server transferring to the providers smtp server, right?

Most businesses will not allow un-authenticated email outside of the building unless they have something like an Open SMTP Relay connector setup with in their mail server for these types of devices.

The reason for this is so that someone can't send classified / sensitive documents outside of the organisation straight from the photocopier where an IT administrator can't tell who actually sent the information.
Please don't ask me for firmware or service manuals as refusal often offends.
