Re: bizhub C452, C2253
The combination of the PRCB, color drum motor, and firmware brought it back. A gradation brought back the copy quality. It would have been even better it it hadn't taken 4 calls to conclude.
I mis-spoke in the first post: it's a color drum motor, not color developer motor.
Thanks to everyone that posted. =^..^=

Re: bizhub C452, C2253
This has been a real old fashioned mind bender. I started out on Mita copiers where you could open up one of those nice 36 x 48 circuit diagrams and follow every wire and circuit trace, without even being in the same county as the copier. Sans a good circuit diagram, I've resorted to holding the power supply up to a bright light, following the traces, and drawing "maps" of the component configuration. =^..^=Leave a comment:

Re: bizhub C452, C2253
** follow up **
Going in the right direction. After installing the PRCB and loading firmware the color drum motor now spins during initialization, but still errors out with the same error. I'm thinking that the motor speed is being detected on the color drum motor M16 itself. There may have been some kind of a short in the motor itself taking out the PRCB.
After a few times of powering up and watching it spin, I thought I'd better not continue or I'll blow the new PRCB also. M16 is on order. More to follow. =^..^=Leave a comment:

Unfortunately, no. I'll be heading out there tomorrow. I'll keep you posted. =^..^=Leave a comment:

Re: bizhub C452, C2253
Haven't had this happen yet to me thank goodness. You probably don't have another machine that you can try to swap a few things out with do you?
OK. You want to talk about convoluted?
This all starts with a "Toner Waste Container is Missing." message on a bizhub C452.
The customer did me the favor of busting off the flag on the lower right corner of the waste bottle. No sweat, right? Wrong. Now it's a C-2253 error. That's a color developing motor error for those of you following along. It occurs during initialization or if reset by front door.
So I track the voltages back:
color developing motor M16: CN1-8 and CN1-9: no 24vdc
On PRCB:
connection for M16: CN3-2 and CN3-4: still no 24vdc
ICP13: fuse closed/good
24vdc from power supply: CN1-1 and CN1-2: still no 24vdc
On Power Supply (A0P0 R704 11):
24vdc from power supply: PJ005-1 and PJ005-2: still no 24vdc (also absent at PJ005-3, PJ005-5, PJ005-9, PJ005-10)
enabled by relay RL801 and RL803, PJ008-12 (DRIVE_RY_REM) and PJ008-14 (INTER_LOCK_SW): 24.8vdc pin 12 to frame ground, pin 14 does not go to ground.
On PRCB:
enabled by relay RL801 and RL803 on Power Supply, CN7-3 (DRIVE_RY_REM) and CN7-1 (INTER_LOCK_SW): 24.8vdc pin 3 to frame ground, pin 1 does not go to ground.
I don't think that I can track this any further back into the PRCB. Do you think it's a PRCB problem? The thing that's got me wondering is the signal (INTER_LOCK_SW). This couldn't come down to an open interlock could it? I've checked the front doors, three on the right side, paper deck right door. Have I missed any?
I've tried the power supply, no change. I unplugged PJ005 to see if 24vdc returned (possible short?), no change. Since other 24vdc lines are working I removed individual pins PJ005-1, PJ005-3, PJ005-5, PJ005-9, PJ005-10, one at a time to see if I could remove a short, no change. I've removed the other 24vdc connectors, then it asks for imaging units.
Any thoughts? =^..^=Leave a comment:

"Compytech" The new konica color machines(C224,C284,C364,C454,C554,C654,C754) will have the test mode for motors and sensors. And all I can say....is about freakin time!!Leave a comment:

Re: bizhub C452, C2253
Amber sitting next to the drum how cute lol. Do you have them trained to turn a screwdriver yet? Hopefully the board works out for ya. It's hard to diagnose motors cause you take the boards off to test them.. But wait, you can't test them with the board off.. They should really have a mode in the Tech Rep mode to test the motors. The old Konicas had 47 mode. Why they couldn't build that into Test mode in the service mode is beyond me.Leave a comment:

Re: bizhub C452, C2253
Since I cannot even get the 24V without the motor connected, I'm going to order the PRCB.
You know these newer manuals are just terrible. There isn't one word written to describe the motor driver circuit for the color developing motor. Thanks for your comments. =^..^=
Sometimes you cannot read voltage until the chain of events requires the voltage. I ordered a board for a cassette issue because of no voltage, but it turns out the voltage only appeared after the cassette was shut and the lift mech kicked in.Leave a comment:

Felix is fine. He has some sort of a corn on his toe. A simple trim.
Amber got her teeth cleaned. No big deal.
Cindy got her neutering incision repaired. It had not closed properly. She's very cranky. It will be a long time before she forgives me. =^..^=Leave a comment:

Hey Blackcat today was your day off from work.... you had a sick cat to take care of....
Be nice to Miss Konica....her manuals are better than most...LOL....Leave a comment:

Re: bizhub C452, C2253
Move the PWB box assy far enough out of the way that you can remove the four screws from the motor and hold it in your hand and see if it will fire up then. This will at least eliminate iu's and binding. If you already replaced power supply, I would then go to PRCB, if you've already reseated connectors. or maybe just start with the motorLeave a comment:
