Bizhub 36/42 Hard Drive Size problem

Hi need to know how to solve issue with a B36 showing hard drive size as 20gb. This causes fax to freeze and a few other issues. The machine has a 320gb hard drive. I have done firmware and a mode 8 complete format yet drive still shows 20gb. I have the same issue with a C35 and believe it is a common problem on the new smaller range. How do i resolve this Please help.

Do you have another machine you can swap hard drives with, just for diagnosis? It's most likely a HDD failure, but this way you can be sure. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Tried that still does the same so not the hard drive.

I just printed a config sheet from our b42..shows 20470MB, HDD" installed", but directly under this is shows "10MB" used, you're not mixing these 2 items up...
If you don't see your question answered in the forum, please don't think it's OK to PM me for a personal reply...I do not give out firmware and/or manuals.

The machine actually has a 320Gb drive in 20470mb is only 20 GB.

You are correct..never noticed that..but did some checking and the 20k (20GB) is what's available for doc storage. The Bizhub config sheet shows 120GB drive installed but I'm sure you are correct on the new devices with 320 gb hdds. So what happened to the other 200GB+??? The general consensus around here is that the rest is used for print/scan/fax. Try freeing up some doc storage space and see what happens. Emujo

Unplug hard drive from control board "with machine off" switch machine on without hard drive plugged in and wait for ready to copy, ensure job log is empty on all functions, fax, cop, print and scan. Switch machine off plug hard drive in restart.
