    C451 solid cyan printing

Client said it just started printing solid cyan and makes a clicking sound. Sure enough when we got there it was indeed. Is this a failed cyan drum? Looks ok, but we have seen ricoh look good and be bad.

    Any thoughts?

    thanks.

could be a faulty MFP board! worth trying new I.U first.

If there is a Fiery attatched, make sure that ALL connectors are seated and re-seated; and then reboot... I had one having a green background when it was supposesed to be white. Even when printing Fiery test pages.

Went there and it was working fine. Tried new iu just in case and went into error code every time. Put old iu back in and it worked for a couple days and now clients says its back to solid cyan print again!

        Whats the deal?

          Hi there!
Taking a close look at the spring-contacts of the HV-unit. When their not 100% in line you can get the worsest quality problems.
          Greetings...

Ok, asked client to pull out a out an inch the cyan drum and push back in and try it and it worked so something in the contacts of machine must be off. Also makes a pretty loud clicking sound when copy.

Had the same problem but without the clicking noise

Check the 2 cushions on your blue IU lock levers. They wear down over time allowing IU to shift away from the contacts in rear of machine. If you cheat the front door and pull on the IU, you should be able to duplicate the problem. If you push in on the IU it should go away.

4004182902(upr cushion) and A00J121200(lwr cushion) are the part #'s and are common to all 4 lock levers.

Okay, went back. Clicking sound seems to be coming from Cyan hopper area. Will go back and tear into it. It still does solid cyan background. Once in a while it will make perfect color prints/copies then go randomly back to solid cyan. Black and white are fine. I am going to go back with a transfer belt.

Also getting a P21 code and when we go in to check errors we see a waste toner motor failure.

                Any other thoughts?

                Thanks
