[Jamming] Dialta Di200f scanner bed shakes and will not scan for copies.

I have a Minolta Dialta Di200f. The scanner arm will not move and shakes rather violently. The machine will give a fatel arror and reset. Is this a easy fix? It is a old copier and I want to fix it myself or send it to the bone yard.

    Thanks

Check the foil coating on the back of the exposure lamp. If it has a cut spot you need a new lamp.

That spot may resemble a bubble in the foil.

Will that cause the scanner arm to shake and not move?

Yes, cracks or bubbles in the foil will cause arcing. Logic circuitry doesn't like that.

Sometimes you can put a dab of solder over the crack(s) to ensure conductivity over the whole length of the foil.
