    [CQ] C451 Black image smear

    Hi all,

We have a customer with a Konica C451 which has had a history of black image tram/smear lines across the page, edge to edge.
Customer is using 300 gram glossy A3 paper (always used this).
The Black IU has recently been replaced. The Transfer belt ass'y has only done 36,000, Transfer cleaning unit was cleaned then changed. Cleaning. Tried increasing and decreasing paper separation setting, Transfer bias settings etc. all under service mode
drive gears were replaced due to grinding noise (now fixed).

Meter count on machine is 759948.IMAG0093.jpg
Any help would would be greatly appreciated.

I have attached a photo sample for analysis.

    Regards

    Nick

    Hi Nick,

We had a similar problem before when we left our machine in a cold warehouse overnight and the black imaging unit tarted producing the same text. Also the replacement drum that you have put in may also have been faulty have you another drum - I know they are expensive.

Does this happen on 1st or 2nd transfer?
I don't like the new copier I just bought. It says "put face down" but every time I do it, it blinds my eyes.

              Hi,

Thanks for your replies. Luckily we have a dead/scrap machine in our office so hopefully I can rob a
Black IU and transfer unit for testing. Black IU's are quite expensive indeed.
              Will post back with results.
