    Konica C224e drum modding

    Hi Guys,

This might be a silly question but here it goes...

If there a way to modify a C224/284/364e black drum unit so that it can be used as a color drum?
    Same question for the c220's.

    Regards

    Nick

Yes, all you need to do is swap the chip. I only order K iu's as they are cheaper.

not just slightly cheaper either, its like 1/4 the price in my country.

also interesting is how the colour dev units are just under $1000 each and the black is only $150, all irrelevant really to KM themselves as most machines are under contract but it sure must give dealers a hard time.

I can't see any difference in the two either!??? although the K IU expected life is 120k & the C,Y,M is 55k
So K image unit is cheaper AND has twice the expected life!????

There is no difference besides SMD resistor value on "chip". Also life is limited by machine engine not a drum itself - thickness of coating agent is exactly the same in both drums.
