Assuming a poor mixture of developer content in the toner. We remive the offending toner, vacuum out the hopper & replace with Ktn toner. Do a hopper fill & run about 20 halftones at full density (255) then "manual" add toner cycle. TCR always comes back down to around 6.5%. Had to give up on another brand due to some batches of this. Mainly black & cyan.

We've never removed the ducts. Lazy, I guess? I just stick my vac gooseneck in from the front door and get what I can. Can't tell if it gets it all out or not. I always blow out the DV unit's top air duct. We also carry around used ozone filters that have been blown out by our shop compressor at 125~150 PSI, not just by canned air. (Do it outside because most filters will yield a huge cloud). I'm sure Greta Thunberg will be coming by after this post

After switching to KTN toners, our excess toner dusting has been reduced, as well as rogue C2552,4,6,8 High Toner TCR % codes.
We salvage depleted C220, C224e, C258, C300i DV units with part of a bag of KTN DV. (P/N 49084 is black) Black can be used on any color, then just purge with halftone test pages until proper color returns.
Three main causes for DV issues remain:
    1. Crap online toner (use OEM or KTN)
    2. Old DV seals (use Copylite SEAL368)
    3. Old drums (never reset a 4e drum, always turn on 4e drum warnings, replace 4e drums on time!)

Low speed and high speed have different air paths. Low speed up fo 36ppm you can't clean from the back sufficiently.
Only from front side vacuuming. For speed versions ones with toner filler at the back we use the KM jig to suck the toner from the back.

    AParsons-
Get the new OEM Black primary feed tire with deep horizontal ridges that they're using on newer models for any tray having jams. Esp with today's inconsistent paper quality. A5C1562200 has the built in clip, but the tire can be taken off the hub & used on previous hubs.
You can spray the tray clutch with CRC Electronics cleaner. Do not disassemble. Just stick the spray straw in the clutch and flood it while turning. Can often salvage a slipping clutch.

    Hi,
Yes I did tackle the problem and got a new developer unit from the People's Republic. By the time I had bought the developer (couldn't find any particularly cheap) the extra money for the complete new unit seemed worthwhile. Have fitted this, not particularly challenging, and the machine is a lot less pink as a result so I think that was the trouble. I want to run a lot of magenta pages through it to settle it in as the test page shows no magenta at all.

However I now have the dreaded paper jam message at position 1 where the machine will not feed paper from the paper drawer. I know this is a different thread and will tackle it and get back.

In short it does seem that it was the Magenta developer unit and I think that if I had developer sitting on my shelf then topping it up would probably have solved it. Now I have to address the paper feed problem.

Thanks for the help and will update the thread when I have a complete result. Andrew

When you manage to unlock the CE password of any production machine like me, then I can take your knowledge into consideration.
This solution was offered only by me on this planet.

    1. The entire amount of developer must be extracted from the unit.
    2. it must be measured, sifted and topped up to the amount of 210 grams.
2 After that, check if the corona breaks through, clean it.
If there is doubt, replace the places with color units
    3. Check the application of the developer on the magnetic roller, whether it is correct, i.e. identical compared to other units.
If necessary, adjust the magnetic roller blade to 0.45 mm.
    4. Be sure to reset the developer unit so that it does not throw out errors related to toner concentration.
    5. In the case of replenishment, I prefer to use even second-hand, sifted developers from production machines pr. C6000L, C8000 ,and with Chinese I have a bad experience like the one you mentioned.

DO NOT RESET THE DRUM OR DV UNIT AS SOME MIGHT SUGGEST!!! That in it self could cause complete failure, calibrating to the old drum's charge properties & worn dv. You said your tcr levels are approx. 6.5% that is great. Adding any dv will not upset that concentration ratio. DO NOT RESET BY CHIP OR DEVICE!!!
I also want to stress that either the seal was dusting your drums charge grid, causing developer to get pulled out, or the drum is so old, charge has increased to unacceptable levels.
Do as I described and you will see immediate improvement. Clean the drum charger at minimum with canned air if you are not capable of disassembly (you could ruin the drum if your not experienced).

    M RESET C224

This unique M RESET C224 Device enables Technicians to reset Developer Units without changing existing TCR sensors. This device has unlimited number resets and can be used as an onsite tool or in a workshop based .
    Using:
    1.
After installing compatible developers ,in the developer image unit, it is necessary to perform a reset of the developer image unit in order for the TCR sensor to remember the concentration of the toner the value triggers the toner supply.
    2.
In the case of errors related to the concentration of toner - developer unit (C2551, C2553, C2555, C2557, C2411, C2412, C2413, C2414, C2552, C2554, C2556, C2558, C2559, C255A, C255B, C255C, C2561, C2562, C2563, C2564. .) and after the repair it is necessary to reset the TCR sensor.(If necessary, reduce or increase the concentration of toner in the developer from the service mode)

With this tool you will no longer have to spend money buying chip because the tool allows you to reset as many times as you want and allows the use in other equipment infinitely resets the image Drum unit .
The device reset drum unit allows the reset of the drum unit with a in numerous equipment of the , ie a single device can reset the drum unit more than a 72 million times and of without the need for a chip or an exchange of the chips.
    Using:
    1
After replacing a compatible OPC drum.
    2
Device also allows the use of black image Drum unit in place of the color image Drum unit .
In addition to resetting the drum units the reset when permanently connected to the equipment allows the use of the drum unit K (Black) instead of the Drum unit color, ie you can buy to put in the equipment only Drum unit k (black) instead of the drum unit color thus having a huge economy since the Drum unit K (black) is much cheaper than the drum unit color.

M RESET C224 allows to select an opc drum for reset using the switch.
The micriswitch ON position allows resetting.
In the position of the OF device, it can permanently remain in the device and replaces the chips of all drum units.
(in the bizhub C220 series .. it can replace black and one color)

M RESET can also reset toner status chips for C554e, C308...
M RESET C224 has a light indication of a successful reset.

    AParsons-
As you saw, turning mag roller by hand may look like enough dv but machine speed will reveal some is missing so just add about 2 tablespoons of any color dv you can get. Black or other color will eventually be replaced, or you can run heavy magenta solid pages in svc, test mode, halftones, magenta to quickly purge it. Developer is actually carrier plus toner. The c220 carrier in the developer is the same as c224e and c258 series. Only the 4e and 8 series toners are smaller particle size so they fuse faster. That little difference in particle size is not noticeable in small qty and will be replaced with 4e or 8 toner if people do this in those machines, so only a large dv qty add or change in 4e/8 could cause poor fusing for the first 30/50 pages depending on how much c220 dv is used. I would not pour out your M dv, just add a few tbs and test.
Katun sells c220 dv in a bag cheap. Ive used it in all 3 series. The seal368 from Copylite fits all 3 series.
Unless I missed it, you still havent said the age of the drums or dv, so this is just a symptom you are patching if the drum or dv is old or worn. If the M dv was pulled out due to the seal leaking/dusting the drum charger, then its a good fix if you clean the drum charger & replace the seal.
